The Ten Commandments

10 CommandmentsThe Ten Commandments are central to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In them we see the holiness, the justice, and the grace of God. They can be expanded into numerous laws particular to different contexts and scenarios (some folks say there are as many as 613 different laws in the Old Testament). They can also be simplified into two basic laws: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-40). They most obviously call us to outwardly holy lives but deeper thought, illumined by the Holy Spirit, shows us that they speak even more profoundly to matters of the heart, showing us our sin and need for atonement – that is our need for Christ.

In this class, taught by Rev. Chad Reynolds, we will study the Ten Commandments and other relevant passages from the Old and New Testaments, trusting the Lord will grow us in the knowledge (of the mind and heart) of His grace and holiness as it is revealed in His Law and fulfilled in His Son.
