What Did You Expect? Redeeming the Realities of Marriage
Lecture Hall A
Taught By Rev. Chad Reynolds
So, after the fairy tale wedding you jump in the car and ride off into the sunrise of perfect, marital bliss, right? Marriage is all love, joy, and peace, correct? Not exactly. “Marriage is war!” So says Paul Tripp, though he doesn’t mean what you might think upon first reading that statement. Instead Dr. Tripp works to show that the real war within marriage is happening between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of sin. If marriage is not as satisfying as you had hoped, the problem is not with your spouse, but with you and your sin. That being said, if marriage is not as satisfying as you had hoped, the solution is not your spouse, but Christ and His grace!
If you are married, engaged, or think you might one day like to be married then this class can be of great help to rightly orient your heart to the Gospel, thereby redeeming the present and future realities of marriage. This is a video series that will be facilitated by Pastor Chad. There will be time spent each week both watching Dr. Tripp’s presentations and discussing the material presented. Couples will get additional benefit from the class by participating in homework assignments.
Minor Prophets…Major Message
Taught by Rev. Matt Joldersma
What’s so minor about the minor prophets? I mean, among other things, didn’t they write about the end of the world…and then go ominously silent?
For most of us, the end of the world isn’t that minor of a deal, so it may be wise for us to pay a more-than-minor amount of attentions to these prophets even today…especially today.
Also, thinking about the end of the world may just cause another not-so-minor topic to come to mind: Jesus. Did the minor prophets write anything about him? Do we need to better understand the minor prophets to better understand Jesus?
This class will investigate some themes found in the writings of the minor prophets; primarily those dealing with the end times and the Messiah – God’s Chosen One. Namely, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Good things often come in small packages.
Wednesday Nite Kidz Ministry
Age: Preschool 4’s through 5th grade
Around 6:30 pm, parents are invited to check their children in with the group leaders who will walk them downstairs to the Children’s Level. There the leaders guide Kidz through a Bible study as well as a game and/or craft that reinforces the Bible point for the evening.
The focus of Wednesday Nite Kidz is on discipleship and applying Biblical truths to our daily lives.
Pickup location is downstairs in the Vintage Building at 7:30 pm.
Nursery is available for preschool 3’s and under until 7:30 pm.
Who U for middle school begins at 5:20 pm in the game room.
This Middle School ministry is led by Micah Burklin (our Director of Youth) and a great crew of volunteers. Students explore what it means to have their identity in Christ through games, skits, messages, discussions, personal interactions with each other and God’s Word.
Grillin’ at the Rock for high school begins at 6:00 pm in the game room.
This is a time for the High School kids to come together mid-week for fellowship and food. They gather outside under the carport area of the Meeting House that faces Park Avenue (when weather permits). Other times they gather in the Game Room of the Family Life Center. As the title of the ministry suggests, the meal is prepared and grilled for the kids at no charge to them. Once a month, the kids will hear from someone in our church family, a volunteer leader, or a peer of what God is doing or has done in their life. Come join the fun!
