In Sympathy

beverly-griffith-smallWe wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and supportive prayers to the family and friends of Beverly D. Griffith, who passed away December 21, 2012.

She was born August 16, 1922 in Rahway, New Jersey to the late James W. and Carmeta (Russell) Dykes. She came to Lake Wales in 1954 from Narrows, Virginia. She graduated from Duke University in 1944 with a degree in zoology and was married May 4, 1944 to William R. Griffith with whom she shared sixty one years of a blessed and happy marriage until his death in January of 2006. She was a homemaker. Beverly was a member of the American Association of University Women, P.E.O., Former member of the Woman’s Club, and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed sharing her love of art through oil paintings with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Orr of Bellevue, WA, Diane G. (Bill) Laws of Brunswick, GA, Elaine G. (David) Matthews of Maitland, FL, Laurie G. (Steve) Anderson of Lilburn, GA; son, William R. (Sherry) Griffith III of Baker, FL; brother, James W. (Virginia) Dykes of Greer, SC; sisters, Bernice (Fletcher) Brown of Parker, CO, Kathryn (Ed) Wishart of Reno, Nevada; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 28, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales with Rev. David Rockness officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 10:30 until service time. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Missions Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
